Chapter 11. Refining Essence
Chen Jingxin is a disciple who has been ordained and has his own courtyard in the temple.
Although Yuanfu Temple is called a temple, it actually covers a very large area, spanning two mountains in front and back. There are dozens of main halls inside, and over a hundred other buildings of various types.
"Junior Brother Xu?"
After morning class, Chen Jingxin returned to her yard to continue practicing. When she saw Xu Qing suddenly coming to her house, a look of surprise appeared on her face.
Then I thought of a possibility.
There was a hint of surprise and anticipation in his eyes for a moment.
"Junior brother, is there something wrong?" Chen Jingxin looked at Xu Qing in front of him meaningfully.
After Xu Qing bowed his head, he said solemnly:
"Brother, I have completed my foundation building."
Chen Jingxin's eyes lit up when he heard that, and he quickly stepped forward and pressed his palm on Xu Qing's wrist.
Feeling the smooth flow of energy in Xu Qing's body, he knew that he had undoubtedly completed the foundation building.
"it is good!"
Chen Jingxin was overjoyed.
He is not a person who is jealous of talented people. The more talented the disciples are, the more prosperous the future of the Taoist temple will be.
Xu Qing has the memories of two lives, so he has some experience in observing people's words and expressions. In addition to his ability to "observe Qi", he can clearly feel that Chen Jingxin's happiness comes from the heart.
Therefore, his impression of Brother Chen in front of him suddenly increased, and he felt a little closer to him.
"Congratulations, Junior Brother, for achieving your foundation."
Xu Qing did not dare to be arrogant and quickly returned the greeting: "Thank you, Senior Brother."
Chen Jingxin looked at the well-behaved Xu Qing and sighed again in her heart.
A rare first-class character
The last time someone with such monstrous talent appeared was during the generation of the temple master!
"Now that my junior brother has established his foundation, he is considered a half-formal disciple of my Yuanfu Temple. Now the only step left is to become my disciple and receive ordination at the ordination ceremony." Chen Jingxin thought.
"The ordination ceremony?"
"Yes." Chen Jingxin nodded. "Only after a successful foundation builder completes the transmission can he be officially accepted into the Yuanfu Temple and become a member of the Taoist sect."
"I believe that the ordination ceremony is held three times a year. The first one is in January, which is the time that corresponds to the disciples who have completed the foundation building in 100 days."
At this point, Chen Jingxin smiled slightly:
"Of course, Junior Brother is a top-level talent and completed his foundation building more than a month ahead of schedule. You need to wait patiently."
Xu Qing shook his head and said, "It's only a little over a month. Junior Brother can still wait."
Chen Jingxin smiled and continued:
"We have to wait for the ordination ceremony, but we can't delay our practice. The temple has sufficient countermeasures for your situation."
“Although I have not yet been ordained and have not entered the sect, the temple can, at its discretion, teach you the formal cultivation techniques in advance.”
Hearing this, Xu Qing's eyes suddenly lit up: "Can you teach me the next practice method in advance?"
"Yes."
Seeing Xu Qing's impatient look, Chen Jingxin couldn't help but smile a little more when she thought of her past self.
"Brother, please follow me."
Chen Jingxin took Xu Qing to the Dharma Storage Pavilion in the temple.
On the road.
Chen Jingxin gave Xu Qing some knowledge about the next practice method:
"Junior brother, do you still remember what Uncle Qingning said about the path that practitioners of our generation would take when he taught us the foundation-building method that day?"
"Remember!" Xu Qing nodded. "Building the foundation is to preserve the form, to refine oneself, and to complete one's humanity. The path we have to take from now on is to go up step by step and go against the innate nature."
Chen Jing spoke calmly and eloquently, "That's exactly the truth."
"The first stage of foundation building is to protect the body, and the next stage is to refine the body and refine the essence, or to nourish the body and refine the essence, or to refine the grain into essence."
"The step of refining the form and refining the essence is a step further than the foundation-building 'guarding the form', using the acquired and innate sympathetic essence of the human body to generate the innate essence."
Xu Qing asked: "Brother, how should we refine our body and spirit?"
"Essence and blood share the same origin!"
Chen Jingxin didn't keep anyone in suspense: "Essence comes from blood, refining essence is actually refining blood, so this step is actually not much different from martial arts."
"They are all about strengthening the body."
"Of course there are differences. Martial arts emphasize external training, which can be broken down into the four stages of tendons, bones, skin and flesh. Taoism emphasizes internal training, opening the nine orifices to form the primordial essence."
"There are six methods of body refining: the first is the Jade Liquid Body Refining Method, the second is the Gold Liquid Body Refining Method, the third is the Taiyin Body Refining Method, the fourth is the Taiyang Body Refining Method, the fifth is the Inner Vision Body Refining Method, and the sixth is the True Determination Body Refining Method."
"Each of the six major methods has its own advantages and disadvantages, but there is no distinction between high and low."
Xu Qing asked: "Brother, what kind of body-refining method do we use in our temple?"
"Our Yuanfu Temple follows the path of cultivating the mind through meditation and practicing talismans and making scrolls. This method of refining the body naturally follows this path." "It is the method of refining the body through inner observation, also known as the method of refining the body through visualization."
"Concentration and body refinement method?"
"As the saying goes, there is a spirit in every part of the human body, and observing it can nourish the three treasures." Chen Jingxin explained, "The method of contemplating and refining the body is to visualize the spirit in the body, and use the spirit of the spirit to protect the human body's essence, energy and spirit."
As they were talking, they had already walked to the front of the Dharma Storage Pavilion.
The Tibetan Dharma Pavilion is a tall building with six floors, brackets, flying eaves, and ridges.
Chen Jingxin took out a talisman from her arms, lit the talisman core, and the talisman automatically floated in front of Xu Qing without wind.
"Brother, what is this?"
"Junior brother, follow this talisman and enter the Dharma Pavilion to choose a form-refining method that suits you."
Chen Jingxin explained: "Ordinary sects usually only have one method, which is passed down from top to bottom, but our Yuanfu Temple has a long history and profound heritage."
"During this period, many senior masters emerged and collected and created many cultivation methods, so there are many different cultivation methods in the temple now."
"You can go into the Dharma Pavilion and choose the practice method that suits you best."
Xu Qing frowned slightly when he heard this.
What Senior Brother Chen said sounds good. The more diverse the inheritance, the more choices disciples will have.
But even if the inheritance follows the same path, there will be differences.
Cultivation involves the great principles, and a small difference can sometimes make a huge difference.
If the master and the disciple practice different methods, even if the master is at a higher level, he can still teach the disciple from a higher perspective.
However, there may be omissions during teaching.
My own situation is special, so I learned the Fa first and then became a disciple.
After learning the martial arts first, does that mean that at the subsequent initiation ceremony, I can only worship someone who practices the same martial arts as my master?
Xu Qing asked his doubts.
Chen Jingxin said: "Junior brother, don't worry about this."
"Our Yuanfu Taoist Temple was founded on a book called The Great Yellow Court Taoist Scripture. The human body contains hundreds of spirits, so all methods that focus on cultivating and nurturing the spirit can be included in it."
"The Great Huangting Daojing will only be taught to new disciples after they have been ordained and become disciples."
"So that's how it is." Xu Qing understood, "Thank you, Senior Brother, for clearing up my doubts along the way."
"No problem." Chen Jingxin waved his hand, "Go ahead, Junior Brother. Follow this talisman, it will guide you to find the most suitable technique for you."
Xu Qingchao quipped to Chen Jingxin: "Yes."
After saying that, he stepped into the Dharma Repository.
The space inside the Dharma Repository is much larger than it appears from the outside.
The talisman given by Chen Jingxin emitted a golden light and floated in front. Xu Qing followed it and moved continuously, his eyes wandering around, looking deeply at this place.
What he saw were rows of tall shelves, arranged in an orderly manner in front of him like giant guards.
On each of these shelves are displayed various objects wrapped in transparent light films, including jade slips, books, bones, weapons, and so on.
Each of them exudes a strange power, making the entire Dharma Pavilion seem to be lingering with some kind of indescribable aura.
Under the influence of this breath, Xu Qing's heart, which had been a little excited and restless because of entering the Dharma Storage Pavilion, gradually calmed down.
Xu Qing seemed to be thinking about something.
Thanks to his ability to "observe Qi", he can see much more than the naked eye.
Therefore, he had his own understanding of the strange atmosphere that lingered throughout the Tibetan Dharma Pavilion.
Behind every practice method displayed on these shelves is the painstaking efforts of the founder.
And in the years that I don't know how long,
The successors who inherited the Dharma from generation to generation have left behind a miniature of history and memory.
The strong ideas accumulated over many generations have given the heritage here a unique spirituality.
Xu Qing understood this and knew what he should do now——
The inheritance is spiritual.
People choose the skills, and the skills also choose people.
He closed his eyes.
Darkness came from all around, submerging the shelves where many inheritances were displayed, but the golden light on the talisman was deeply imprinted in his mind.
It turned into a golden thread, extending forward continuously, guiding him to finally arrive in front of the martial arts that was most suitable for him and breathing at the same frequency as him.
