Chapter 2 Monster Village
Jiang Yuan followed behind Big Cat, walking all the way south. They didn't know how long they had been walking, but the man and the cat didn't feel tired at all.
It was already early morning, with only a hint of white in the sky and a cool breeze blowing, making it a little chilly, until they walked out of Longquan Forest and came to a place with a wide view.
This is a large meadow. The grass around is half a meter high. There are some dew on the tips of the grass. Early insects have already climbed along the stems and leaves and started to look for food.
Jiang Yuan looked up and saw an archway not far from the lawn. It had been weathered for years and was covered with moss. She walked closer and saw three large characters carved neatly above the archway - "Monster Village".
Jiang Yuan's pupils shrank slightly!
Although she didn't remember anything when she was young, she always had a deep memory of a gentle voice. Now when she saw these three words, the voice in her memory became clearer.
"Once upon a time there was a monster village, and in the monster village there was a man..."
Jiang Yuan murmured, and her voice seemed to merge with the voice in her memory. She pondered for a long time, and finally looked up at the big cat behind her.
Since Big Cat had brought her here, what should she do next? It would definitely tell her!
Sure enough, Big Cat's reaction did not disappoint her.
It walked straight to the archway, turned its head to look at Jiang Yuan, and after making sure that she was observing its movements, it boldly took another step forward. What it saw at this time was another world.
From Jiang Yuan's perspective, after the big cat took that step, its head and upper body disappeared, and only its butt and tail could be seen twisting around.
The archway suddenly had a face that looked ferocious and terrifying, as if it was about to swallow the big cat into its stomach in the next second...
Jiang Yuan ran towards Big Cat with a worried look on her face, ready to pull it out, but just as her hand was about to touch it, she clearly saw a grass with small red flowers suddenly appear in front of her right foot. The grass tripped her right foot with its stems and leaves, and she fell uncontrollably towards Big Cat.
"what!"
With a scream, Jiang Yuan's original intention to hold Da Mao's hand turned out to be a pushing force, so the man and the cat rushed straight forward, but in an instant, they were "swallowed" by the archway.
The breeze blew, the green grass swayed, and the traces that Jiang Yuan and Da Miao had just left disappeared without a trace...
Jiang Yuan climbed up from the big cat. Fortunately, it was cushioning her in front of her, so she didn't fall seriously. She patted the dust off her clothes, and after making sure that the big cat was okay, she looked back at her current place.
Beside the narrow dirt road, there are houses made of stones or wood. The laughter of children can be heard, and occasionally a hint of smoke floats in the air. It should be someone is making a fire to cook, someone is sowing in the fields, someone is planting vegetables in the soil, and someone is herding cattle on the slope.
Everything looks so beautiful.
But Jiang Yuan opened his eyes wide, and for a moment, he was filled with astonishment, bewilderment and helplessness, and inexplicably a bit of curiosity.
The "people" in this village actually all look like animals...
"Hey, are you okay?"
Just as Jiang Yuan was standing there in a daze, a bull demon carrying a hoe, two meters tall, and wearing a gray coarse cloth shirt suddenly walked up to her and asked.
Although she was afraid, she shook her head immediately when she saw that the other party did not hurt her immediately, and then tentatively said: "I'm fine, may I ask where..."
But before Jiang Yuan could finish, the bull demon waved his hand and said, "Why are you standing in the middle of the road? Move to the side quickly, you are blocking me."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yuan hurriedly ran to the side of the road, not forgetting to call Da Miao to join him.
When they reached the side of the road, the bull demon continued to move forward, dragging the hemp rope. It was at this time that Jiang Yuan discovered a giant winnowing basket he was dragging behind him. In the winnowing basket lay a bunch of round creatures with yellow wheat ears on their heads. They were crowding each other and cursing at each other.
Perhaps they noticed Jiang Yuan's gaze, they all looked at her, then looked surprised and started to communicate without hesitation. "What is that? Is it a monster?"
"I haven't seen him before, I don't know him."
"That little thing is quite unique."
"..."
As he was speaking, the winnowing basket suddenly shook, and the yellow balls of wheat ears immediately forgot about Jiang Yuan and shifted their target, starting to accuse the bull demon.
"Can you please tow our car properly? I'm dizzy from the shaking."
"That's right. If it won't drag on, let other monsters come."
"..."
The Bull Demon held the hemp rope in his hand, turned around and apologized repeatedly, appearing honest and sincere: "Gentlemen, I'm really sorry, this slope is a bit steep, I will definitely be careful on the road ahead, please don't be angry, please don't be angry..."
Jiang Yuan was confused and shocked. He looked at Da Mao and saw dullness in each other's eyes: Today was really exciting. Not only did we see a talking cow, but we also saw such a strange-looking ball that could talk!
"These balls are so small... How did they dare to speak so loudly to that cow?"
Jiang Yuan sighed at first, then became puzzled.
As soon as she finished speaking, a paw with dark brown hair rested on Jiang Yuan's shoulder, scaring her so much that her whole body tensed up immediately. A gentle voice followed: "It's very simple, because those balls are not ordinary balls. They are the source of food for our village. As long as we plant them in the soil, we can harvest delicious food next year."
Jiang Yuan quickly stepped back several steps, hugged the big cat's paw tightly, and then looked at the monster.
She had reddish-brown hair on her head with a small pink flower pinned on the side, a round face with white markings on her cheeks, big ears, and small eyes with distinct black and white. She wore a light brown chest-length skirt and a light green shawl, and held a round fan in her hand. She looked reserved and introverted.
As he spoke, he grinned at Jiang Yuan and moved his ears. He looked naive and non-aggressive.
As for height...
Jiang Yuan silently stretched out his hand to compare the difference between himself and her, and quickly came to the conclusion -
Almost the same as her!
She looked up at Big Cat again, and after confirming that Big Cat was able to knock her to the ground with one slap with its current size, she felt safe and stopped hiding behind Big Cat.
"Who are you?" Jiang Yuan looked at her defensively.
"I……"
The witch covered half of her face with a round fan, smiled faintly, and was about to answer, but suddenly her expression changed.
She secretly glanced at an alley not far to the right behind Jiang Yuan, where there was no light. A dark shadow in the alley stretched out its claws and waved at her.
In the sunlight, the gray claws were particularly conspicuous. She glared at the black shadow twice, and the black shadow reluctantly retracted its claws.
After seeing the banshee's movements, Jiang Yuan immediately followed her gaze. The next second, she frowned slightly and walked towards the alley...
