Chapter 4 This is the condition of my family

Chapter 4 This is the condition of my family
Her mother Yu Qing said this and gave Ye Nai some change as food money for the next few days, in case she was too busy to remember.

She was not like other parents who were stingy with their children and did not give them money. The main reason was that she was an accountant and had trained her eldest daughter to be a cashier since she was young. She developed the habit of keeping accounts of her spending. The amount of money she took from the parents, how much she spent and how much was left were all clearly recorded in the account book. She could check the accounts at any time and the money would always match. Over the years, she naturally felt at ease to put some money on her eldest daughter.

As soon as Ye Na received the money, she was sent back home by her parents because her younger brothers and sisters were about to finish school and she had to be left alone at home.

Not long after returning home, the twin brother who was in the sixth grade and the sister who was in the second grade came home together. While they were queuing up to take a bath, Ye Na prepared dinner and waited for the younger sister to come out of the bath to eat it.

"Wow, sister, the food is so delicious today?" The younger brother and sister-in-law gathered around the table with a look of surprise on their faces.

"Are we the only ones eating today? Where are mom and dad?"

"Dad broke his leg while working on site today and is now in the hospital. Mom is with him in the hospital. I brought the meal back just before you got home." Ye Na opened the rice cooker and said as she served them rice.

"Ah?! Did Dad fall hard?" When the younger brothers and sisters heard this, they dropped their bowls.

"It's not that serious. The doctor said I can be discharged after two days of observation."

"But both legs are broken. That sounds serious."

"Since the doctor said so, the injury itself must not be that serious. The problem is that both legs are broken. You can only rest at home until you recover. Wait for Dad to be discharged from the hospital. You should also be good at home and don't play around and touch Dad's injured legs."

"All right."

"Let's eat."

Originally, Ye Na bought spare ribs today, and bought more meat because her father had a broken bone. The dishes today were unusually rich, worthy of a New Year's Eve dinner. The three little ones ate with their mouths full of grease and looked very satisfied.

After dinner, Ye Na cleaned up the kitchen and threw the dirty clothes into the washing machine. Her older brother wiped the dining table, and her two younger siblings did their homework here.

Ye Nai finished cleaning up and came out. When she passed by the dining table, she was stopped by her younger siblings.

"Sister, you took the awakening test today, how was the result?"

"Not awakened." Ye Na shrugged. She didn't have the awakening certificate, so of course she wasn't awakened. Ordinary people only recognized that page of paper.

"How many people in your class have awakened?"

"3."

"so little?"

"Well, awakening depends on probability. You can't force it."

"So, will you continue to study?"

"I'm not going to study anymore. My grades aren't good enough to get into a university outside my city. Only the three top students in my class will continue their studies. Most of the other students will not study anymore. You guys should study hard and try to have an undergraduate student in our family."

The twin brothers who were five years younger than Ye Na disagreed with this and shook their heads.

"We would rather become awakened ones, how awesome it is." "Okay, I hope you two can become awakened ones."

My sister, who just entered the second grade of elementary school, raised her hand quickly.

“I want to go to college.”

"Okay, study hard and go to college."

Ye Na smiled and pinched her sister's face, then walked to the corner of the living room connecting to the balcony, where there was a folding steel bed and three plastic storage boxes stacked beside the bed. She opened the top one, took out a set of underwear and went to the bathroom to take a shower.

You can tell whether the living conditions are good by looking at the length of the women's hair. Ye Nai is a woman with a man's hairstyle. In the summer, in order to better dissipate heat, she shaves the hair on the back of her head short like men instead of cutting it short. She has the shortest hair among the three women in the family. In addition, she is 1.7 meters tall, so she has been mistaken for a man from behind more than once.

The advantage of having short hair is that it saves water and shampoo. It takes only a quarter of an hour to wash your hair and body. Ye Nai rubs the underwear she has taken off with her hands and takes the washed clothes in the washing machine to the balcony to dry.

Just after drying the clothes, they heard the sound of keys outside the door. The four children turned their heads in unison. Their mother Yu Qing came back.

The three little ones jumped and danced around their mother. Only Ye Na took the things in their mother's hands, brought her clean clothes, urged her to take a bath, and then went back to the kitchen to wash the empty thermos bucket.

The family members were busy with their own things. There was no TV at home and only the parents had mobile phones. As usual, Ye Na borrowed her mother's mobile phone to check the weather forecast for the next few days.

Later in the evening, the three younger siblings finished their homework, washed their hands and faces, and prepared to go to bed.

The house has two bedrooms, and is home to four children, two boys and two girls. The twin brothers, who are about to graduate from elementary school, live in a small bedroom of 6 square meters. There are two sets of beds with desks underneath and small wardrobes inside, just like in a school dormitory, and there is still some space for activities. However, the two of them do not like to do their homework in the room, and always feel that the big dining table outside is more comfortable.

My second-grade sister can only do her homework at the dining table because she set up a small bed in her parents' master bedroom. After placing two beds, one large and one small, and a large wardrobe in the room of a little over 10 square meters, there is only an aisle for walking, and there is no space for an extra dressing table.

Ye Na slept in the living room. There was a folding steel bed in the corner where the living room and the balcony met. Next to the bed were four storage boxes, three large and one small, and a cardboard box for this semester's books. On the ground next to her was her schoolbag. These were all her belongings, including clothes for all four seasons.

This is because she has grown up and will always roll onto the floor when sleeping on the simple sofa, so she bought a bed. The dining table was originally where she and her sister did their homework, but her younger brothers always liked to join in the fun, and they had many reasons. If they didn't understand something, they could ask their eldest sister at any time.

The living room is connected to the balcony with no walls or curtains in between. The other end is connected to the kitchen and bathroom. It is the largest area in the house. It is okay in the summer, but it is really cold in the winter. The cold wind keeps leaking in from the gaps in the balcony windows, and my feet are cold after sleeping all night.

Because she had slept in the living room for many years, Ye Nai went to bed late and got up early every day. She had not enjoyed a late sleep since elementary school. At that time, her parents were fed up with their twin sons' restless sleeping postures and did not want to sleep with the children anymore, so they separated the beds and rooms, and gave the small bedroom that originally belonged to her to her younger brothers.

She opened the steel bed, got her bedding from her parents' bed, checked the doors, windows, water and electricity, turned off the lights and went to sleep. Before falling asleep, she prayed as a daily routine that she could move out and rent a house to live independently as soon as possible. She had really slept enough in the living room.

The next morning, Ye Nai got up at the usual time and made breakfast for the whole family. She still made easy-to-digest noodle soup for her father, and put it in a thermos bucket for her mother to go out.

After taking care of her younger brothers and sisters while they ate breakfast and watching them go out to play with their classmates, Ye Nai rushed to the market and bought vegetables for several days. When she came back, she was busy making lunch, which she packed in lunch boxes and sent to the hospital. After her parents finished their meal, she brought back the thermos bucket from the morning, washed it, and kept it for dinner.

Father Ye Yu's condition is stable, and the doctor has said he will be discharged tomorrow. When the nurse came to deliver the lunch medicine, Ye Nai asked her about places to buy second-hand wheelchairs around the hospital.

Her father will have to use a wheelchair for at least a month in his condition. It is not cost-effective to buy a new one. It is better to buy a second-hand basic model, which can be sold after use.

Her mother Yu Qing took the job. It was boring to stay in the hospital anyway, so Ye Nai left with peace of mind.
