Chapter 9 Someone I Miss
When Shen Jinci's father, Shen Shu, was alive, he loved literature and had a deep understanding of Suzhou gardens.
Many places in this Shen's manor are quite ingenious and the essence of ingenuity is remarkable. The overall garden is in the Jiangnan style, and the large tracts of rockery and stone forests in it were all transported from Suzhou and Hangzhou.
Such luxurious and extravagant landscape and finished old houses are extremely rare in Hong Kong.
Kang Woo opens the car door for the man in the back seat.
The night was deep, and Shen Jinci's figure was cast in a layer of darkness. He got out of the car, wearing a black suit, which made his fair skin look even brighter.
After bidding farewell to Bian Yue at night, Shen Jinci went to Ling'an Temple, the faint scent of burnt sandalwood still lingering on his body.
He went there to pay tribute to his father Shen Shu.
Shen Shu was a Buddhist. After his death, his ashes were not buried in the Shen clan ancestral hall. Instead, they were placed behind the Buddha statue in the main hall of Ling'an Temple in accordance with his will.
Ling'an Temple is closed during these days every year because Shen Jinci has to go and burn incense for Shen Shu.
"Everyone is here," Kang Yu tilted his umbrella towards Shen Jinci and said respectfully, "Your uncle Shen Shinian and your second uncle Shen Jian have been waiting for you for more than an hour."
After listening to this, Shen Jinci remained calm and walked towards the front hall.
On the road, the rain hit the low-hanging eaves, and the sound was clear and audible.
Shen Jinci walked into the front hall, where there was a group of solemn middle-aged men in suits.
The man in the lead was sipping tea. When he heard footsteps, he looked towards Shen Jinci calmly.
Shen Shinian is already in his fifties this year, but he has lived a life of luxury. In addition, the Shen family has a unique advantage in appearance, so he looks mature and reserved whose age cannot be guessed.
"Jin Ci, your uncles and I have been waiting for you here for a long time."
Shen Shinian put down the cup in his hand and smiled at Shen Jinci with a kind expression: "The road is difficult to travel in the rainy season. It's not hard for us to sit here and drink tea, but you have to go to burn incense and travel all the way."
Shen Jinci didn't hear the sympathy in these words, but instead heard some profound meaning in them.
Shen Jinci wiped his hands with a warm towel, his movements slow and graceful.
Someone continued, "Today is the anniversary of the old master's death. Logically, you should bring us old guys with you to show your support."
Shen Jinci threw the towel on the tray and said, "People who really want to do their best don't need these rituals."
He walked towards the main seat with a calm and cool demeanor, a distant and indifferent manner. As a result, when he passed by the crowd, those middle-aged people who had been in the business world for half their lives couldn't help but hold their breath.
"I have been abroad for the past few years. Thank you all for your cooperation." Shen Jinci sat down, ignored Shen Shinian's greetings, and said lightly: "I have planned to stay in Hong Kong."
Shen Shinian exchanged glances with Shen Jian opposite him.
Shen Jian looked like a scholar, and he looked elegant. He smiled and asked tentatively: "What does the master mean?"
Shen Jinci played with the nude ring on his index finger, without looking up, and said calmly: "You and Shen Shinian should take some time tomorrow to go to Shen's Group to handle the handover of affairs."
Shen Shinian looked unhappy. Shen Jinci was too cruel and ambitious. In order to keep his power, he took the path of forced centralization.
As for them, they are nominally Shen Jinci's uncles, but in Shen Jinci's eyes, they are probably no better than a dog!
"Shen Jinci! Leave some room for others! It's pointless to kill them all!" Shen Shinian scolded angrily: "You are young now, you don't know how precious family ties are!"
Shen Jinci pulled the corners of his lips, his smile was cold, he finally gave Shen Shinian a look, looking down on him and saying, "Let's go tonight, tonight."
Shen Jinci had his way, so three hours later, Shen Jian and Shen Shinian had their power taken away from them without any resistance at the Lixing Group board of directors. Shen Jinci sat in the main seat with a casual attitude, took the signed document from Kang Yu, and closed it with satisfaction.
His tone was cold, even in front of his blood relatives, and he just said calmly: "The two uncles are old, waiting for dividends at home is better than coming to the group to work every day."
Shen Jian sighed and did not refute.
He knew that a new emperor appoints new ministers, and Shen Jinci could not trust any of them, so today's result was only a matter of time.
But Shen Shinian was extremely indignant.
He stared at Shen Jinci, but didn't dare to say anything more. He could only throw his pen in anger and turn away. He stood up too violently, and the chair moved back on the ground, making a dull sound.
In the elevator, Shen Shinian, with shaking hands, dialed the number of the editor-in-chief of Hong Kong Daily.
Shen Xinian plans to teach Shen Jinci a lesson.
When the call was connected, Shen Shinian sneered and said grimly: "I want to expose something."
The next morning, the continuous rain in the Hong Kong River stopped briefly.
Last night, the news of Shen Jinci's drastic power grab at Lixing Group spread, causing quite a stir in the circle.
Family infighting is common, but it is rare to see someone as ruthless as Shen Jinci.
Just after dawn, Li Siheng's secretary Bai Xu called Kang Yu.
Secretary Bai had been working in Fengcheng Group for many years and was already very proficient in his job. He made clear and logical remarks about the invitation. To sum it up, he was following the orders of Li Siheng's father, Li Tingmo, to invite Shen Jinci for a chat in the evening.
The Shen and Li families had always cooperated well when Shen Shu was alive. In the past few years, Shen Jinci was abroad and there were fewer negotiations, which was understandable. But now, it was Li Tingmo who took the initiative to mention it, so no matter what, he had to give him face.
So that night, in the top floor luxury box of the Xiangjiang Hotel, Shen Jinci pushed the door open and walked in. Inside were Li Siheng and Li Tingmo who had been waiting for a long time.
"Mr. Shen, it's hard to travel at night and it's the rainy season. You must have worked hard to come here." Li Tingmo smiled and stood up to greet him. The expression on his face was as warm as if he had known each other for many years. "Si Heng and I asked Secretary Kang about your taste and ordered some dishes. I wonder if you like them."
Shen Jinci's expression was indifferent. Hearing this, he just said slowly: "It's just a simple meal. Sorry for the trouble."
After he finished speaking, he raised his eyes slightly and met the gaze of Li Siheng beside him.
The two exchanged glances, neither expressing anything.
After sitting down, Li Tingmo smiled and said, "The domestic market has not been good in the past two years, and Lixing Group is thriving. Mr. Shen should stay abroad for a while longer."
Shen Jinci blew away the tea in the cold cup and sipped it slowly, his hands were as white as jade and his face looked cold and textured.
He said: "People in the country who are concerned about each other must come back."
Li Siheng had been feeling upset since he saw Shen Jinci today. When he heard Shen Jinci's words, he suddenly felt upset for no reason.
"Sweetheart?" This made Li Tingmo laugh even more happily. "I don't know which girl is so lucky to be favored by Mr. Shen."
Li Siheng stared at Shen Jinci, and subconsciously clenched the cup in his hand.
The next moment, Shen Jinci spoke calmly and confidently, and he said: "Bian Yue."
